On 25.04.2020 at Rotor-40 landing site (Yamal Peninsula, RF) the accident involving Mi-26Т RA-06268 helicopter owned by Abakan Air Ltd occurred. According to the available information 8 persons were on board, 3 persons suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity. The rotorcraft sustained substantial damage. 

The Interstate Aviation Committee has assigned an Investigation team. The Investigation team has started its work.

The IAC Investigation team of the accident involving Mi-26Т RA-06268 helicopter continues its work at the accident site at Rotor-40 landing site (Russkoye field, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, RF). Appropriate sub-commissions and working groups have been established. 

The Investigation team examined the accident site and made the wreckage maps. Inspection flights of the accident site at UAV were performed in order to receive additional photo and video information. The helicopter was destroyed, there was no fire at the accident site. Currently, recovery of the rotorcraft fragments to the secure storage is under consideration. 

Onboard flight recorders (FDR and CVR), regular GPS, GPWS and multi-function display were removed from the helicopter. The devices were sent to the IAC laboratory for examination. 

The subsequent report on the accident has been issued following the results of the work performed to date. The report has been sent to the concerned organizations.

Complying with all the sanitary and epidemiological restrictions, established at both the Federal and Moscow levels (as the IAC headquarters is located in Moscow), the Investigation team and other IAC Commissions are maintaining continuous operation.
